As you work your way up the mountain, there are a number of stops along the way where you can pull over and take in the breathtaking views.

Near the top of Lookout Mountain, you’ll find the Buffalo Bill Museum, gravesite, and of course the gift shop!

According to the FAQ, in 1923 a group of Lakota (Sioux) led by Spotted Weasel (a former performer for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show) visited the gravesite and placed buffalo nickels on the grave to honor their friend.
The image on the buffalo nickel is of Iron Tail, a long-time friend of Buffalo Bill.
When you visit, make sure you bring some change to toss!
