Bob Seger ~ You’ll Accomp’ny Me
So, here we are, coming to the end of this amazing trip…an experience of a lifetime.
We packed our bags and took off on Friday, August 27, 2021, with a rough draft of places we would like to go see, things we could do…just blowin[sic] in the wind.
I learned a lot about myself this summer and about Abby too.
Things I already knew but had forgotten about us over the past 35 years.
This is a Love Story
It’s always been that way since 1986!
We knew we were going to sell the Newtown house in the near future, but when the market went crazy, we felt that it was the right time for us.
We talked about taking our first real vacation in years by ourselves.
And then our ideas expanded, and then…well, you know the rest if you’ve been following along.
It was fun and a little crazy, but the entire time spent together was amazing…even during our 8-hour driving days!
We never argued the entire 13,000 miles….except for when:
- I almost hit a donkey that had wandered up next to the highway in Utah.
- I passed a speed trap doing 102 mph but didn’t get pulled over 🙂
- I booked a stay in the Yavapai Lodge…and the Plant City Marriott 🙁
This Country is Amazing
People are really good in the U.S., and kindness, happiness, and genuine goodwill prevailed throughout this trip.
People who went above and beyond to entertain us, host us in their towns and talk about life, families, and adventures.
The employees at the hotels, restaurants, and other places graciously gave more attention than they had to, extra treats and drinks for Frankie.
Never a single word about politics, religion, race, etc..throughout this entire trip.
And We Brought Frankie
I’m sure some thought taking Frankie would be miserable, but it was the opposite.
That tongue is famous throughout the U.S. now, and he brought joy to thousands of people he met along the way.
I would bet he’s been to more dog parks in the U.S. than most…approximately 26 by our count, and his GPS collar ranks him in the top 1% of most active dogs in the country, according to the Fi Collar.
Where to Next?
We’re hanging out in Sarasota, Florida, and planning our next adventures.
Thanks for following along.
Mom and Dad
This is great! To continuing the love story and having many more adventures.
